“Oku no Yama Tea Garden” is the only tea garden that has lasted from the Muromachi Era in Uji, Kyoto. This is a plan that offers the powdered green tea called “Oku no yama” of Horii Shichimeien, made from tea leaves selected from the old trees of “Oku no Yama Tea Garden.” The tea made of “Oku no yama” has bright green color and is fragrant. 【Horii Shichimeien】
Horii Shichimeien operates “Oku no Yama Tea Garden,” located at the top of the hill overlooking the Byodoin Temple. During the Muromachi Era, General Ashikaga who was impressed with the taste of Uji tea designated seven places of excellent tea in the land of Uji, which were later called “Uji Shichimeien.”
